Hello All, this is my first time ever doing a blog but why not jump right in. My name is Brenda and I am a part of St. Andrew's Chapel in Montgomery. We have started a new venture with a new Vicar this past January and so far we are moving full steam ahead! It has been great to have such an enthusiastic person join us at our little green church. As of today we are working on a whole bunch of things. We just installed our first phone! WOW welcome to the 21st century! We are planning our priest's installation service. We are going to have an awesome party after to celebrate this great beginning! After that we are going to start building our church! We are excited to be looking into doing new things!
Today I went to the Diocese in NYC and went to a seminar called Doing Church. It was a great day! The first part of the day I spent in a class about financial planning and I got a few ideas about what we need to be doing! Then we had an awesome lunch! It was a bag lunch but it was pretty darn good! On top of that we ate our lunch IN the Cathedral! I never thought we could eat in church let alone the Cathedral! After that I went to a seminar about Health and Vitality in the Church. That is where I learned of this blog spot. I learned some other things in there too but I think this is a pretty good tool! St. Andrew's Chapel is part of the Episcopal Church. We have been in existance since 1903. In 2006 we broke away from being a mission of St. Andrew's Church in Walden. Thankfully, we have a wonderful Diocese that has helped us in a great number of ways to keep us afloat! Since 2006 we have had 2 Interim preists and many other supply priests who have all been wonderful in supporting us when we needed it most. In January of 2008 we met our current Vicar. His name is Pastor Dan. Pastor Dan has great ambition to help us to grow as a congregation. I personally cannot wait to see what the future holds for us! God Bless!

I'm so glad we're using a blog - I just learned about blogging last Fall and think it's both fun and efficient! Many thanks to Brenda for making a "leap of faith" (not the first, I'm sure) into this new technology.
I did learn last Fall that it can be confusing to have a lot of blogs in a group - you're constantly checking on everyone else. I would suggest we just all pitch in to this blog, at least for church-wide topics.
I think the background Brenda chose is great and a picture of the church would be nice - if you need help adding that let me know (I think I can remember how.) Also I really like that in the front of St. George's here in Newburgh there is a sign saying "All are welcome in this place" - an idea for us?
